when special things feel mundane and boring

You get up in the morning.. feel hungry.. take breakfast.. you go to work.. have lunch.. catch a little siesta.. resume work.. come back home in the evening.. watch some TV.. take dinner.. feel sleepy and go to bed.. next morning, wake up again!!

If you are healthy, this might sound like a mundane, boring description of life, and you may say, "Abe yeh bhi koi life hai!"

Now visit a hospital, look around, and you will feel that your life is nothing but a miracle and a blessing. You will meet people who are willing to spend millions to get a life you consider mundane and boring, yet many people don't get that. The same

situation exists with democracy. You vote, you elect a government, and that government completes its term. Elections are held at their due time, elections happen on time, and a smooth power transfer happens. This might sound like a mundane thing in India, but looking at our neighbourhood and the world at large, it seems like a rarity. A blessing we may not recognise until we see what other countries are going through.Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Iran, Russia, and even the United States will make you realise how unique our democracy is, despite how mundane and imperfect it may appear at times. We Indians have democracy ingrained in us as a virtue, and it is not only a system of administration for us. Don't let anyone make you believe otherwise. Lest we forget.

In case you got bored of this preachy style paragraph, do see the comedy cum farce taking place in Pakistan in the name of democracy. It is not a standalone episode but a long running sitcom that started airing on 14 Aug 1947.
